Rudy Rupak founded PlanetHospital in 2002, after experiencing the quality of care his fiancée received when she fell ill in Thailand. PlanetHospital claims to have since sent more than 3,000 patients abroad for medical care. The agency currently serves Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Costa Rica, Cyprus, El Salvador, Greece, Hungary, India, Japan, Malaysia, Malta, Mexico, Panama, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Turkey, and the US.

PlanetHospital requires its physicians to pass a certification exam from the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians, the US’s largest organization of interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.

The agency currently works with several self-insured employers who have contracted its services to help employees save money. Specialties include cardiovascular procedures, dentistry, assisted reproduction (including surrogacy), oncology, and orthopedics as well as bariatric, cosmetic, and spinal surgery.

The agency has been an A-rated member of the Better Business Bureau since 2002.
