Kent Hospital

Kent Hospital was founded in 1999 as one of the largest and most modern hospitals in southeastern Europe. On nearly 9 acres (about 3.6 hectares) of land, the campus was built following American Institute of Architects guidelines and in consultation with the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, on facility design, medical guidelines, and administrative protocols. The hospital is a full-service medical complex offering tertiary-care services in a range of specialties. Kent received JCI accreditation in 2006.

With 102 beds, 21 intensive care beds, and six surgery suites, Kent employs 143 full-time physicians, including 60 surgeons, and 240 part-time (visiting) surgeons. Most of the physicians and a number of additional staff members speak English. Other languages spoken include Arabic, Bulgarian, French, German, Greek, Italian, Russian, and Spanish.

Some of the procedures most frequently performed at Kent include coronary angiography, coronary artery bypass surgery, heart valve replacement, hip and knee replacement, IVF, spinal fusion, and vaginal hysterectomy. Kent also offers the full range of minimally invasive and endoscopic surgical procedures.

Digitally generated images from bone densitometry, coronary angiography, nuclear medicine, and radiology are made available for use within the hospital and to local and international medical practitioners in a fashion that maintains patient confidentiality. Kent’s laboratory is certified for testing all biochemical, hematological, hormonal, and microbiological parameters.

Kent’s Cardiology Diagnostic Unit is equipped for echocardiography, EKG and Holter monitoring, and EKG stress testing. The unit provides angioplasty, coronary angiography, pacemaker implantation, and stenting.

The hospital's specialty centers include the Diabetes Center, IVF Center, Kidney and Liver Transplant Center, Plastic Surgery Center, Sleep Disorder Center, and Urology Center.
