Chapel Hill, NC—26 June, 2007: Healthy Travel Media and SingaporeMedicine jointly announce the launch of the Patients Beyond Borders Singapore Edition. Following the success of the flagship Patients Beyond Borders, published in March 2007, the Singapore Edition will be introduced at the World Conference of Family Doctors in Singapore on 24 - 27 July 2007.
The 336-page guidebook features an in-depth overview of Singapore’s hospitals and clinics serving international patients, including detailed coverage of Centers of Excellence, specialties and super-specialties, patient liaison services, accommodation options, travel destinations and more.
Considered one of the world’s top medical travel destinations, Singapore drew more than 410,000 international patients to its hospitals and treatment centers in 2006. The country boasts 11 JCI-accredited hospitals—one-third of all JCI-accredited facilities in Asia. In 2000, Singapore’s healthcare system was ranked the best in Asia and sixth best in the world according to the World Health Organization (the US by comparison was ranked thirty-sixth).
"With its unparalleled medical and accreditation infrastructure, I couldn't think of a better venue than Singapore for the launch of the Patients Beyond Borders Special Editions," says author Josef Woodman. “Healthcare consumers now have in-depth access to hospitals, physicians and accommodation providers in Singapore that they could not otherwise obtain in the US edition."
SingaporeMedicine will host a three day program entitled “Singapore, the World’s Choice Healthcare Destination” for interested media, between 23 July and 25 July 2007. A press conference to launch the Patients Beyond Borders Singapore Edition will be held on 23 July 2007 with author Josef Woodman and Dr. Jason Yap, Director of Healthcare Services of the Singapore Tourism Board. Members of the media are invited to tour Singapore’s hospitals and medical facilities, including JCI-accredited Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital.
"Singapore offers so many diagnostic and treatment choices to international patients. In marrying the best-selling international medical travel guide with one of the leading medical tourism destinations in Asia, patients now have a one-stop source of planning and travel information for their every medical need," says Dr. Yap.
Patients Beyond Borders Singapore Edition will be available to international patients visiting or considering Singapore for medical treatment. The book will be included as part of a visiting patient’s information package, and will also be available for sale throughout Asian bookstores and other retail channels.
