Radiation Therapy

Ionizing radiation kills cancer cells or changes gene mutations so that cells do not continue dividing. Radiation therapy can also decrease the size of tumors. Several different types of radiation are available including conformal radiation therapy (CRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), conformal proton beam radiation therapy, and brachytherapy (also known as seed implantation or interstitial radiation therapy).
