Spinal Fusion

Spinal stenosis is a narrowing of the bony canal in the lower back through which the spinal cord and spinal nerves run. Severe narrowing results in pain and weakness in the back and legs. Although laminectomy is the most common type of surgery used to treat stenosis, spinal fusion may be recommended for severe stenosis. The fusion joins the bones of the back with screws or bone grafts.
