Gastric Banding

Adjustable gastric band (ABG), often known by the brand name LAP-BAND, is a small, bracelet-like band placed around the top of the stomach produces a small pouch about the size of an adult’s thumb. Because the stomach is smaller, food intake is reduced. A spherical balloon inside the band that can be inflated or deflated with salt solution to increase or decrease the size of the inlet into the stomach.
